Position Summary
The Packaging Operator – CFT Filler is responsible for operating and maintaining the CFT rotary can filler to ensure cans are filled and seamed accurately, consistently, and efficiently. This role plays a key part in delivering product quality and uptime through precision operation, routine maintenance, and adherence to cleanliness and safety standards.
Packaging Assistant Responsibilities
Operate and monitor the CFT rotary filler, ensuring fill levels, seams, and line speeds meet quality and safety standards.
Perform daily startup, shut down, and cleaning procedures, including CIP (clean-in-place) operations.
Conduct routine seam checks and adjust filler/seamer settings as needed to maintain integrity.
Monitor machine performance and address minor issues quickly to prevent downtime.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and assist with mechanical servicing of the filler.
Maintain detailed records of downtime, maintenance, and fill/seam accuracy.
Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards in and around the filler at all times.
Work closely with QA and packaging leadership to identify areas for improvement.
Support continuous improvement of filler-related SOPs and maintenance procedures.
Participate in training sessions and cross-training to build equipment expertise.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience operating a can filler (CFT or similar) strongly preferred.
Familiarity with beverage packaging operations and seaming standards.
Mechanically inclined with the ability to follow preventative maintenance schedules.
Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and consistency.
Ability to follow SOPs and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
Reliable, safety-minded, and process-driven.
Schedule Expectations
Two shift options:
First Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Second Shift: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends or additional hours based on production demands.
Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential.

This role also supports operation of auxiliary machines such as detection scanners, date coders, and the poly-pro applicator. The Packaging Operator plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent packaging operations while contributing to maintenance schedules, SOP development, and ongoing process improvements.
Packaging Assistant Responsibilities
Operate and monitor primary packaging equipment: tray packer and cartoner.
Operate additional packaging machines, including detection scanners, date coders, and poly-pro applicators.
Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
Perform daily inspections and scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment.
Maintain accurate logs of equipment performance, downtime, and service activity.
Collaborate with maintenance and leadership teams to identify and resolve mechanical issues quickly.
Support development and improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety and GMP protocols.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Assist with training and onboarding of new team members on equipment use and safety.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the broader production and packaging team.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or relevant certifications a plus.
1+ year experience operating equipment in a manufacturing, food/beverage, or CPG environment preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic issues.
Experience working with packaging lines or machinery such as cartoners, tray packers, or labelers preferred.
Ability to follow written procedures, read equipment manuals, and maintain documentation.
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and focus on quality and safety.
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working on your feet for extended periods.
