Filler Operator

About the Role: The Filler Operator is the crucial anchor of our packaging line, specializing in the operation, maintenance, and optimization of our beverage filling equipment. While you will be cross-trained on auxiliary equipment (such as the cartoner, tray packer, detection scanners, and date coders) to ensure flexibility and team redundancy, your primary focus and expertise will be operating our rotary fillers and seamers for canned beverages. Operators at Craftsmith ensure smooth production, maintain strict quality standards, and drive continuous improvement across the packaging floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the operation, setup, and maintenance of rotary fillers and seamers for canned beverages. * Operate and maintain secondary packaging equipment (cartoner, tray packer, labeler, date coder, poly-pro applicator) as needed.

• Execute machine setups, calibrations, and format changeovers, while actively troubleshooting to ensure high-quality output and minimal downtime.

• Perform rigorous in-process quality checks, with a strict focus on seam integrity, fill volumes, weights, and carbonation/dissolved oxygen levels.

• Stage materials and maintain accurate logs of production performance, downtime, and maintenance activity.

• Adhere to all safety, GMP, and sanitation protocols while maintaining a clean work environment.

• Clean, sanitize, and help build better Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); participate in continuous improvement projects and efficiency initiatives.

• Support the onboarding and training of new team members, particularly on filler operations and safety.

• Assist in other brewery areas (cellar, warehouse, shipping/receiving) as needed to meet production demands.

Qualifications

Core Requirements

• Proven experience operating rotary fillers and seamers for canned beverages.

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills.

• Comfort using computers, iPads, and PLC-based automated interfaces.

• Ability to safely lift 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods in a production environment.

Preferred—Not Mandatory

• Experience using a Comac or CFT filling system.

• 1+ year manufacturing/CPG or food/beverage experience.

• Familiarity with the brewing or beverage industry.

• Preventive maintenance or SOP development experience.

• Forklift or pallet jack certification (training available).
